  1. Hey Rick,

Funny you thought I lived on a sailboat – I do enjoy sailing, and I’m waiting for your Seaforth pics.
    Take care.

    Leo

  2. I loved my 24. Wished I never sold it. I moved up to a 33 ft ketch rigged double ender from Norway. The 24 was a fun little boat.

    • Welcome Aboard Luke, Over the course of my research into the Seaforth 24′ this past year, I have seen this very same sentiment being expressed by other previous owners like yourself. This enduring heartfelt fondness for this little ship among those that have sailed her, speaks volumes about the integrity and vurtues of this well designed pocket cruiser. Thank you for sharing your love for the 24 with us. I very much enjoyed checking out your new sailboat with the link you included in your post. I must say that like many designs that originate from that part of the world she looks very cool indeed. http://www.viksund-ms.com Please do come back often and share more of your sailing memories, pictures and adventure’s with us. Best Regards, Capt. Rick

    • Welcome Aboard Don, Congratulations on being one of the lucky sailors to have had the good fortune of finding one of these rare, seaworthy pocket cruiser classics. I would be very pleased to have you send me your photos and owners manual copy to post for visitors to view. I would also like to encourage any and all other past or current owners to feel free to do the same. Please be sure to include > Seaforth 24′ < in the subject line. send to: Rick.Cutcliffe@Gmail.com I'd like to Thank you in advance for taking the time to contribute to the content of the Seaforth 24' Weblog. Best Regards, Capt.Rick

    • Hi, I just acquired a Seaforth 22 footer and I’m in the process of restoring her. She was the victim of the hurricanes of 2004 in Florida. However, after I get all the barnacles scrapped off and the muck cleaned out, I’m positive that she’ll be looking mighty fine. I used a 4 hp Suzuki outboard to move her from the Banana River to the Indian River, a distance of about 12 miles total, and I was very happy with the way she handled the gusty winds and small white caps on the river. I can’t wait to get the rigging in place and spend a couple of weeks on her in the Florida Keys. ‘Mermaid’ is a 1979 model.
I am VERY interested in taking a look at the owners manual that you have, might it be possible to post a pdf copy of it?

  4. Is this blog dead or alive? I hope it’s alive as I have acquired a Seaforth 24 that needs extensive restoration. I’m hoping to find a community of Seaforth owners who are willing to share their knowledge and experiences with this sharp looking ship.

Common on Seaforth Captains, let’s build a living community!

I just started my weblog at 1979seaforth.wordpress.com

    • Please don’t lose hope Don, I assure you, I still share your admiration for this fine little ship and my dream and vision for this site is still very much alive !

With that being said, let me offer my sincere apologies to everyone for not posting an update for you here sooner. Right around the time I initially launched this blog I began experiencing chronic hard-drive partitioning issues with my new Lenovo Y510 ideapad laptop computer. These problems eventually resulted in catastrophic function and data loss. Unfortunately this forced me to put the entire project on hold until just very recently. I severely underestimated the amount of time, money and effort it was going take before I would be able to get this labor of love rolling again, however, I’m happy to report that I’m back at it again with a renewed passion and focus. Basically I’m starting all over again from scratch so please be patient with me. Your going to be very pleased with the all new multi media community site I’m currently putting together for us, I promise. In the meantime, I’ll be posting here on a regular basis to keep you up to date and answer any questions you may have the best I can.
In closing, just as soon as I’m satisfied with the function and overall look and feel of the new site we’ll be ready to begin really focusing on reaching out to fellow Seaforth fans around the world to encourage them to join us at “The Official Seaforth Coastal Cruiser Owners Association” website to share with us and and help us grow as a community.

      Best Regards, Capt. Rick

  5. I hope this is going to get updated. Anyway, I am about 1 day away from finishing a restoration of a Seaforth 24′ I pruchased this winter. Should be in the water in about a week. I’ll be living aboard it. If anyone has any questions feel free to contact me. I went through every single nook and cranny on the whole damn things. Everytime I blink, I see boats under my eyelids.

  6. I for one would love to see photos of your restoration. I’m working on the beginning phase of mine, a ’79 Seaforth. I’m keeping (loosley keeping) a blog of her at
    1979seaforth.wordpress.com
Share your story here or there, or make your own blog of the adventure. You’ll also find a Seaforth 24 facebook group.
Can’t wait to see some photos and hear your story. Quite brave of you living on a small coastal cruiser, but it should be interesting to say the least.
    Rocky
